Hello!
Here I am in Atlanta, Georgia, hanging out with my aunt and uncle, Sue and Tom, and their two dogs, Mr. Beasley and Ms. Brooklyn. Sue is training Ms. Brooklyn right now, who is still a puppy, and things are going well as long as there are treats to be handed out :) The weather here is gorgeous, about 92 degrees and very sunny. We sat out by their new pool all morning, then went out for lunch and some window shopping.
Tomorrow I fly to Peru! I don't leave here until 6:30 in the evening so I'm going to sleep in and just take it easy all day again. Hopefully I'll be tired enough to sleep on the overnight flight to Lima. I'll arrive at 4:45am in a strange city... Luckily I know what taxi company is reliable and where I need them to take me from the airport :)
As I posted in my Welcome message, I really hope that everyone subscribes to my blog (that way you should get updates) and then you can comment, which would be really great. I think that will keep me motivated to publish stories more often, and update pictures. Also, I am letting you know right now that my goal for this trip is to take as many picture of people as possible. As many of you know, I have a tendency to take plenty of landscape and architectural pictures, but often neglect to focus on the people. Which is odd since I'm such a people-person. I LOVE people watching, I love making new friends, and I love talking to strangers. So my focus this trip will be about people.
I'm so excited to be on way, and I can't wait to share my stories with all of you! Please keep in contact, and remember, I will have access to Skype and Facebook as well.
Love, love, love

Maia, this is great, how long will you be in Peru for?
ReplyDeleteI WANNA COME!!!
ReplyDeletelove you Maia! River and I miss you! Tell me more about your adventure! What exactly does it entail?
Maia, What a terrific experience for you! The people are what is going to make this trip more exciting for you. I agree that landscape pictures are nice but telling the story through peoples everyday life and their expressions will be priceless. I know you are said you are doing this trip "solo", but when you think about it you really are not. God is right along side of you guiding and protecting. Then your folks are in your heart and consonance. After that all your inner-circle of friends are there for you cheering you on. Gee, I hope your suitcase was big enough for all of us, lol. Look forward to your blogs and have a good flight tomorrow. Karen
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you left Christa all alone with me. I'm training her to do all sorts of things while you're gone. You're going to be shocked when you come back.
ReplyDeleteI'd subscribe if I could figure out how but rest assured the URL is bookmarked and I'll check regularly! Love you babe!

ReplyDeleteMy trip will be three months long, and I am going to be volunteering in a school that provides free after-school education and activities to the children and adolescents of Cusco, Peru. I can't wait to get started! I'll update often, I promise :)
